ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO VIEWS OF MOUNT FUJI
2022 (work in progress)

One Hundred and Eighty-Two Views of Mount Fuji is a series created from the digitization and editing of 182 photographs of Mount Fuji, taken from Japanese magazines from the 80’s and 90’s, manipulated and originally gathered in two volumes of books produced by Keiichi Inokawa (artist’s grandfather). He never saw the mountain in person.

The name of the work is a tribute to Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, a series of woodcuts made between 1830 and 1832 by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, including the iconic ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’, which gave rise to global interest and inspiration in Japanese art and is one of the most reproduced images in the world.
